Dale Terril

Dale R. Terril, age 88, of Ripon, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011, at the Markesan Resident Home. Before entering the Markesan Resident Home, he had been a resident of Ripon.

Dale was born on December 17, 1922, in Atwood, IL, a son to Harry and Josephine (Voboril) Terril. The family moved to Wisconsin Rapids, WI shortly thereafter. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1941, and joined the Army, and was a WWII veteran, serving in the Army Signal Corp in the Hawaiian Islands from 1943 to 1946. Upon his return, he married Jeannette O’Keefe in 1946, and they lived in Wisconsin Rapids. Dale was employed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in Wisconsin Rapids and retired in 1983. He and Jeannette spent their winters in Arizona for 25 years, and summers in Redgranite, WI until 2005 when they moved to Ripon, WI. Dale and Jeannette celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on May 25th of this year. Dale was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Wisconsin Rapids and St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Dale had many hobbies over the years, in his younger days he played hockey and later enjoyed camping with his family. He did carpentry, played golf, fixed cars and electronics for many friends and relatives, planted many trees and in later years enjoyed going to garage sales. He was, of course, a Green Bay Packer fan (even while in Arizona) and enjoyed listening to music. Dale was a quiet man with a quick wit and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Jeannette; three children, Diane Riggs of Hayward, CA, Joanne (Bob) Kleisner of Ripon, WI, and David (Cathy) Terril of Tracys Landing, MD; five grandchildren, Janmarie Besaw, Rob Kleisner, Chris Kleisner, Nathan Terril and Justin Riggs; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donald Terril of Wisconsin Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Joan Elizabeth Riggs; and one brother, Floyd Terril.

Visitation for Dale will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 218 Blossom Street, Ripon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon, with Reverend Robert A Fictum officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials can be given to Alzheimer’s Assn, Southeast WI, 620 South 76th Street, suite 160, Milwaukee, WI 53214, or a charity of your choice.
