Daniel Schultz

Daniel David Schultz, age 79, of Ripon, died Friday, November 27, 1998, at Ripon Medical Center.

He was born September 19, 1919, in Dorchester, WI, a son of the late Gustave N. and Lyda (Lietzow) Schultz. Dan moved to Ripon in 1929, and went through the Ripon Schools and graduated from Ripon College in 1941. He served 5 years in the Army and was discharged in 1946 as a Major. In April of 1942, he married the former Patricia Thorkelsen. Dan spent 13 years at Speed Queen as Assistant Purchasing Agent, and then left Speed Queen to become a self-employed Manufacturer’s Agent until his retirement. Dan was an active bowler and served as City Association Bowling Secretary. He was an active Rotarian and served as Rotary President. He worked with the Community Fund and served as Head of the Fund Drive, and served 12 years as Alderman from the 2nd Ward. He also served a number of years on the Ripon Hospital Board, spent several years in various offices of the First Congregational Church, and for many years, was an active member of the Tuscumbia Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia T. Schultz; 1 daughter, Holly Stuart of Watertown; 2 sons, David R. (Lisa) Schultz of Mukwonago and Kimball D. Schultz of Madison; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 3 sisters; 1 brother; and a sister-in-law. He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Carleton Schultz.

There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in his name to the First Congregational Church or Ripon College.
