Darrel Fritz John Ebert, age 75, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010, of a very brief battle with cancer, at his home with his family by his side.
Fritz was born on September 20, 1934, in Rosendale, WI, the son of Junior and Faye (Phillips) Ebert. He graduated from Green Lake High School and went on to UW Stout for his Bachelors and Masters degrees. In 1956, Fritz married Cynthia Sutter in Owen, WI. Fritz was a teacher at Rosendale and Waupun schools in Industrial Technology. He was also a football coach at Rosendale High School and a wrestling coach at Waupun High School. Fritz was involved in many conservation activities such as The National Crane Foundation and Aldo Leopold Foundation. He also raised Fresian Sport Horses and restored antique horse drawn buggies. Fritz enjoyed driving his horses around his property. He was very gifted as a woodworking craftsman and he enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop. Fritz was on the Town of Ripon Board since 1985 and spent the last four years as Town Chairman. Fritz was also very active in EAA, teaching classes to the youth in the summer. He was always looking for new adventures in traveling around the United States and Europe and he enjoyed many camping trips with his family.
Survivors include wife of 53 years, Cynthia; three daughters, Deborah (Tim) Gangnon of Stillwater, MN, Rebecca (Rick) Koon of Ripon, WI, and Anna (Dustin) Hershberger of Apple Valley, MN; one son, Antony (Wendy) Ebert of Dassel, MN; seven grandchildren, Robert and Thomas Gangnon, Nicole (Tom) Moniz, Evan Koon, Mckenzie and Grace Ebert, and Lydia Hershberger; one sister, Donna (Bert) Zietlow of Berlin, WI. Fritz was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Fritz Ebert will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon.
Memorial Service for Fritz Ebert will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon. Reverend Maurice A. Schaus will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date at Bluffton Cemetery, Town of Brooklyn.
