Darwin L. Hilt Jr. age 47, died Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Ripon Medical Center, Ripon.
Darwin was born in Ripon, on June 24, 1962, the son of Darwin L. and Sonja (Klapperich) Hilt of Rosendale. Following high school Darwin attended Moriane Park Technical College in Fond du Lac, obtaining a degree in small engine repair. Darwin served on the Markesan fire department and the auxiliary police department for 7 years. Darwin was active with the 9 day deer hunt and bow hunting. He enjoyed NASCAR, Packer football and woodworking. He also enjoyed watching sitcoms, movies-mostly comedies, and the numerous birds out the patio door. Some of his favorite times were eagle watching days in the Sauk City area. Darwin had an amazing way of communicating with animals, especially his dogs, Sassie & Trotter, along with his cat, Baracuda. Darwins grandfather was a pilot and flying a plane was a dream of Darwins, in 2006, Fred a friend of his took him up in his plane and Darwin was the pilot for the day, this was a dream come true. On July 29, 1995, Darwin married Anita Zabel, and the couple made their home in Ripon and then Adams.
Darwin is survived by his wife, Anita, his parents, one sister, Brenda (Jerry) Hopp of Brandon, their children, Julie, Melanie, and Brent; his mother-in-law, Mayme Zabel; one sister-in-law, Sheila Wyer, and her children, Christopher (Amanda) Wyer, and Rachel Wyer; two brothers-in-law, Mark(Ann) Zabel, and their daughter, Erika (Jason) Kaatz, and Randy (Friend Amy) Zabel. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Darwin was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony; two uncles, Gordon and Lyle Klapperich; one brother-in-law, Sean Wyer and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation for Darwin L. Hilt Jr. will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home of Ripon.
Memorial service for Darwin L. Hilt Jr. will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home of Ripon, with the Reverend Charles R. Thompson officiating.
