Darwin Foot Prellwitz, age 70, of Ripon, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at Ripon Medical Center.
Darwin was born September 7, 1945, in Fond du Lac, WI, the son of Lloyd and Ardis (Abendroth) Prellwitz. He graduated from Markesan High School and in 1965, Darwin married his high school sweetheart, Carol Henshaw at Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon. He worked at Alliance Laundry for 40 years as well as volunteering on the Ripon Fire Department for over 40 years. Darwin was a Ripon Police Department Auxiliary Officer and also worked for the Ripon Guardian Ambulance. He served our country in the United States National Guard, 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team Red Arrow Division. Darwin was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Ripon Lions Club and the Wild Turkey Federation.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Carol Prellwitz of Ripon, WI; two sons, James Prellwitz of Ripon, WI and Gene (Carrie Jo) Prellwitz of Kaukauna, WI; one daughter, Jennifer (Christopher) Peshek of Madison, WI; six grandchildren, Amber (fiancé, Christopher Stapelfeldt) Prellwitz of Ripon, WI and Amanda Prellwitz of Rochester, NY, Brittni, Alexa and Maisie Prellwitz all of Kaukauna and Reed Peshek of Madison, WI; one great-grandson, Jeremy Shantner of Ripon, WI. Darwin is further survived by his brother, Raniel (Christy Burgess-Prellwitz) Prellwitz of Texas and sister, Gloria (The Rev. Rick) Grams of South Dakota. Darwin was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Shiela Prellwitz.
Visitation for Darwin will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2015, from 4 8:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Monday, September 28, 2015, from 9 10:00 am at Our Saviours United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Darwin will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015, at 10:00 am at Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon. Reverend Dr. Kevin P. Mundell will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. A memorial is being established in his name.
