David Anthony Jankowski Sr., age 67, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on August 14, 1992, at Ripon Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 6, 1925, in Green Lake, the son of Michael Joseph and Katherine (Bukowski) Jankowski. He graduated from Green Lake High School in 1942 and attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. He was a graduate of the United States Naval Reserve Midshipmans School in New York, NY in 1945 and in 1946, he graduated from the Wisconsin Art Academy in Milwaukee. He served his country during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
In 1947 he married Betty Lou Kradwell of Green Lake. Until his retirement in 1990, he was employed by Fabriko in Green Lake as Graphic Arts Director. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake, a lifetime member of the Green lake Yacht Club and past member of the Green Lake Boy Scout Council. He had been elected to the Green Lake School Board for 7 years, served on the Green Lake School Education for Employment Council, and was Commander of Willis-Chapel American Legion Post #306.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou; sons David (Mary), Tim (Linda), Mike (Julie) and Jan; grandson Ethan and Stefan; granddaughters, Katie, Carrie, Kristen, Carley, Ava and Anna; and one sister Helen Shoemaker of Panama City, FL. His brother Dan and his sister Elenor Stoneberg preceded him in death.
Funeral services for David Jankowski will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake. The Reverend Leo Joyce will officiate. Interment will follow in Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, where a scripture reading will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Affectionately known as Popeye to his children and grandchildren, Dave will be missed very much by his family and his many good friends.
