David C. Koepsel, age 78, of Ripon, WI passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, WI.
David was born on June 7, 1943, the son of Edward and Evelyn (Friedrick) Pilarski. He was adopted by Phillip and Lula Koepsel when he was 7 years old and they loved and raised him in Sister Bay, WI. David attended Gibraltar High School in Door County, and went on to serve our country in the U.S. Army. On August 5, 1978, he married the love of his life, Peggy Presley at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Merrill, WI. David worked for Belle City Amusements. He sailed on the Great Lakes as a cook on the freight ship, SS South America and later in life was a molder at the Arneson Foundry in Kenosha, WI. He enjoyed reading, history, and cherished times together with friends and family especially cookouts and cribbage.
David is survived by his wife of nearly 43 years, Peggy Koepsel of Ripon, WI; children, Christina Pinkall of Ripon, WI, Carol (son-in-law, Mark Entringer) of Fond du Lac, WI, William Koepsel of Ripon, WI, and Jennifer Carter of Union Grove, WI; grandchildren, Jordan James of Oshkosh, WI, Rehgan Pinkall of Oshkosh, WI, Ayden Welter of Ripon, WI, and Ava Koepsel of Fond du Lac, WI; and a brother, William (Sandra) Koepsel of Sun Prairie, WI. He is further survived by extended family and many longtime close friends. He was preceded in death by his birth parents and his adopted parents, Edward and Evelyn Pilarski and Phillip and Lula Koepsel; three brothers, Tom Johnson, Gerald Johnson, and Edward Palarski; and a sister, Carol Dunham.
A Celebration of Life for David will be held at a later date.
