Dean W. Hinds, age 86, of Skyline Rd, Ripon, passed away on Thursday, early morning, August 11, 2005 at his home.
He was born at home on the farm near Pickett on May 18, 1919, the son of Benjamin H. and Ina May (Nelson) Hinds and attended school in Pickett. Dean was in the Army from 1942-1943 at Ft. Lewis and Walla Walla, Washington. He married Mary B. Stearns on July 31, 1943 in Walla Walla. They were members of Brandon United Methodist Church. Dean was owner/operator of Deans Texaco in Ripon from 1953-1980. Until his retirement, Dean and Mary were well known figures on the corner of Blackburn and E. Fond du Lac St in downtown Ripon. They were dedicated to each other, and to providing service above and beyond to all their customers and help to family and friends.
Survivors include son, Donald Dean Hinds (Mary L.) of Aurora, Illinois; granddaughters, Dawn Candice Hinds and Darcie Marie Hinds, both of Oshkosh; grandson, Dustin Dean Hinds (Stefanija Schmid-Hinds) of Van Dyne; great-grandson, Dean Donald James Hinds D.J. of Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary; 2 brothers, Adrian and Neal Hinds; and his parents.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at 4 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon with Rev. Laura Yates officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, August 16 from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Liberty Prairie Cemetery, Pickett. A memorial has been established.
