Deborah Clewell Carver

November 1, 1953 — March 4, 2025

Ripon

Hello. My name is Deborah Clewell Carver. I was born on November 1, 1953. I passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, surrounded by so much love of family, friends, and my beloved dog, Smooch. My parents were Jill (Zeratsky) Carver, and Augustus Clewell Carver.

I had an amazing life! My youngest-self memories center in and on Green Lake…the city, our home, grandparents’ homes, and, of course, the lake itself. It defined my childhood. My life was centered on the “s” sports; sailing, swimming, and skiing…and my sports were competitive! Sailing took me from childhood through adulthood!!! Snipe was the sailboat of choice. We competed in regattas all over the country. I am a water sprite.

In my lifetime, I traveled the world. I worked in the travel and airline business for the majority of my career, and then took to my passion for spacial design, finishing my working career following that passion. Oh, and I cooked for people, so all the above while also working as a private chef…selectively. 😉 I chose to work jobs that were forgiving enough to allow me to travel.

Things that bring me joy; travel, reading, and dogs. And justice for everyone.

Always most happy, prior to the tick invasion, foraging for mushrooms, and picking asparagus. Since, and before the (tick) invasion, always happiest when getting another stamp in my passport.

I am survived by my sister, Jib Carver Christensen; my uncle Andrew Zeratsky; magical cousin Susan Carver; my Vermont cousins, the Thomas family; my Green Lake family, the Burlings, the Carvers, the Zeratskys. I am further survived by the most incredible Friends, I could ever have imagined!

Predeceased by parents, Jill (Zeratsky) Carver and Augustus Clewell Carver; aunt, “Betty” Carver, and uncle, “Gib” Zeratsky.

My cause of death was #%*@$*! Cancer. Cervical Esophageal cancer, a rare and uncommon cancer.

I will have a Ceremonial Recognition of my life at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at The Federated Church of Green Lake, 489 Scott St., Green Lake, WI 54941, with Rev. Karen Gygax Rodriguez officiating. A lunch reception at Heidel House, Oakwood Restaurant, 653 Illinois Ave., Green Lake, WI 54941, will take place immediately following the service.

I will have an outdoor Celebration of Life sometime in the spring/summer of 2025, date not yet determined. It will be held at the water’s edge on Green Lake, in Green Lake, Wisconsin.

My inurnment will be in the Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake, Wisconsin, on the historic side of the cemetery, the plat of which was recorded in 1863.

My favorite quote is something I’ve always believed to be true; “Where there’s a will…there’s a woman.”
