Dennis Milton Oakes, age 69, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at
his residence in the presence of his family.
Dennis was born November 21, 1944, in Ripon, the son of Milton and Donna (Zimdars) Oakes.
He graduated from Ripon High School. Dennis married Barbara Frisinger on June 5, 1965. He was a Craftsman for the public school district of Oshkosh. Dennis enjoyed a variety of hobbies that included painting, hunting, NASCAR, and especially woodworking as he was known as, “Handyman.”
Survivors include his wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Oakes; his son, Shawn (Stacey) Oakes; grandchildren, Brett and Brooke Oakes; sister, Donna (Russ) Morgan; brothers, Mike (Jackie) Oakes and Chris (Debbie) Oakes; sisters-in-law, Judy Hochrein, Dusty (Dennis) Walker and Diana (Tom Navin) Goedon; nephews, Andy, Josh (Kati), Kyle, David, Jeremy and Skip; nieces, Tara, Amanda (Mark), Heidi, Jackie, Jolene, Kris and Laurie; great-nieces and nephews, Chance, Alexis and JJ; special friends, Finnigan and Lester and his best friend Bruno (his dog). Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Donna and his brother Jeff.
A private family memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Father Philip Krogman will officiate. A memorial is being established in his name.
