Dennis "Pete" Cain

Dennis “Pete” Lee Cain, age 71 of 430 Lake Street, Green Lake, went home to the arms of His Savior May 31, 2002 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

He was born July 1, 1930, in Milwaukee, the son of Royal and Emma (Wallschlager) Cain. After graduating from Green Lake High School he was employed as a Tool & Die Maker. He retired from Oshkosh Truck. On September 9, 1989 he married Virginia A. Meyer in Green Lake. He was a member of Pride of the Valley Barbershop Chorus, Ripon Harmony Kings, and Terrace Shores Evangelical Free Church. He served as a volunteer fireman for 35+ years, and was one of the founding members of the First Responder team in Green Lake. Also he was a City Council member for years. Some of Pete’s hobbies included spending time in the outdoors with his family, hunting and fishing, camping, and building his cabin in Winter, Wisconsin.

He is survived by his wife Virginia A. Meyer of Green Lake, three daughters: Susan Dreger (Scott) of Fond du Lac, Ann Dobbertin (Mark) of Wautoma, and LeeAnn Herschberger (Bruce) of Neshkoro, four sons: Steven Cain (Janelle) of Marshfield, Peter Meyer (Patricia) of Hortonville, Mike Meyer (Donna) of Princeton and Daniel Meyer (Patricia) of Grand Marais, MN; one brother: Marlo Cain (Dary) of Mequon, four sisters: Shirley Sondalle of Markesan, Fern Hallmann (Donald) of Montello, Nancy Switalski (Lloyd) of Green Lake, and Renee Silloway (James) of Ripon, 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service for Dennis “Pete” Cain will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Terrace Shores Evangelical Free Church, with Pastors Gary Zacharias and Mark Dobbertin officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2002 from 5-8 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon and again on Thursday, at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established for Pride of the Valley Chorus and Teen Challenge.
