Dolores Hunger, age 90, of Ripon, WI, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Ripon Medical Center in Ripon.
Dolores was born September 18, 1921, in Dale, WI, the daughter of Arthur and Alma (Gorges) Kohl. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1939 and from Oshkosh State Teachers College 4 years later. She married Gordon Hunger in 1946 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Oshkosh, WI. Dolores was active in the education of children for 39 years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Rebekah Church Circle, Ladies VFW Auxiliary, Town and Country Garden Club, Ripon Beautification Association, Kappa Delta Pi, and Ripon Education Association.
Survivors include, daughter, Pamela Stecker of Oshkosh, WI; son, Jeffrey (Lisa) Hunger of Berlin, WI; grandchildren, Jennifer Jackowski of Cottage Grove, WI, Jaclyn Jackowski of Princeton, WI, Katie Stecker of Chicago, IL; step-grandchildren, Heather (Andrew) Poellinger of Oshkosh, WI, Jonathan Brown of Ripon, WI; great-grandchild, Avery Jewett of Princeton, WI, and step great-grandchildren Patrick and Olivia Poellinger; sisters Dorothy Kohl of Ripon, WI, Bernice Griffin of Palm Desert, CA; son-in-law, Stephen Berndt of Markesan, WI, and many nieces, nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Hunger; daughter Carla Berndt; and sister Audrey Bauer.
Visitation for Dolores Hunger will be held Sunday, June 3, 2012, from 1-3 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Drive, Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Dolores Hunger will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, WI. Reverend Clay R. Salmela will officiate. There will be a graveside service for Dolores Hunger on Monday, June 4, 2012, at 10:00 am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, 430 Griswold Street, Ripon, WI.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Maplecrest staff and residents for brightening Dolores’ life these last four years. In addition we appreciate the care she was given at Ripon Medical Center and Fountain View Care Center.
