Donald W. Bender, 61, of Olden Road, Pickett, died Sunday, December 10, 1989, at the VA Hospital in Tomah. He was born March 25, 1928, in Bancroft, WI to Cecil and Vera Meddaugh Bender. On August 15, 1953, he married Shirley Dorsey.
Mr. Bender was educated in Bancroft. He served in the US Navy from August 30, 1950 until June 14, 1954. He lived the past 20 years in the Town of Rosendale and was a mechanic at Green Giant.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Gary and his wife, Lucy of Madison, WI, Mark and his wife, Mary of Fond du Lac, Todd and his wife, Cathy of Pickett and Wade and his wife, Cari of Ripon; one daughter, Debra and her husband, Thomas Henning of Pickett; 7 grandchildren and two step-grandsons and one sister, Mrs. Marshall Adams of Ft. Atkinson. Preceding his in death were his parents, two brothers and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 13, 1989, at 11:00 am at the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. The Reverend Robert B. LeCount will officiate. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Bancroft.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 until 9:00 pm at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon.
