Donald Denzin

Donald Fred Denzin, age 75, of Ripon, died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 8, 1998, in Ripon.

He was born June 30, 1923, in Ripon, a son to Fred and Dora (Kobernik) Denzin. After attending Ripon Schools and graduating from Ripon High School, he attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. Don was employed as a machinist at Speed Queen in Ripon for 30 years, from 1944 until retiring in 1974. While working at Speed Queen, in 1961, he started a part-time business of his own, and later went to full-time at what is now known as Denzin Machines in Ripon. Don was known for his expertise in repairing lawn mowers and for making custom machine shop parts.

On December 16, 1950, he married the former Bernice Roeske, and they have made their home in Ripon. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Ripon, and served on the Church Council and the Building Committee. Don was also a member of the Ripon Twirlers Square dancers, Brotherhood of Live Steamers, Prairie State Railroad Club, St Croix Railroad Club, Ripon Model Railroad Club, Iowa Model Steam Engineers, and Milwaukee Light Engineers.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; 1 daughter, Carmen (Bob) LaFavor of
White Bear Lake, MN; I son, Jeffrey (Jolene) Denzin of Ripon; 5 grandchildren,
Matthew, Sara & Nathan Denzin, and John & Jeannie LaFavor; and 2 brothers,
Marvin (Wanda) Denzin of South Milwaukee and Edger (Nancy) Denzin of West
Bend. His parents preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 10, 1998, from 4 until 8 PM at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, and again on Friday from 10 until 11 AM at the church. Funeral services will be Friday, September 11, 1998, at 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon with the Rev. Paul Holte officiating. Interment will be in Garden of the Cross Cemetery, Ripon. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Grace Lutheran Church in his name.
