Donald Gelinskey

Donald Charles Gelinskey was born on November 24, 1932 to the late Henry and Gertrude (Schmidt) Gelinskey in Cudahy, WI.
Don served his country as a member of the USAF Reserve 440th Medical Squadron at General Mitchell Field in Milwaukee. He married his most beloved wife, Gladys Rezutek, on October 26, 1957. They were married for 55 years before she passed.
With only a 6th grade education, Don was able to make a success of his life and take good care of his wife and family. Don worked at Bucyrus Erie in South Milwaukee before he packed up his family and left the “big” city to run his own business on Little Green Lake. He and Gladys, together, ran the East Shore Resort and the Bee Hive Tavern. He later started Lake Construction and worked there until his retirement.
Don was an extremely hard worker his entire life and was continuously tinkering on something he never rested on his laurels. He tried his hand at many things, some worked and well, some didn’t! He tried brewing his own beer and wine (the closet still smells like grapes!), growing mushrooms and worms, and raising chickens and ducks. Don was the quintessential gentleman farmer. There was nothing funnier than seeing dad with his staff walking the home property and his ducks following him around! Dad was a numismatist and enjoyed talking about his treasured coins; he also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, fixing up Model A’s, and doing Sudoku puzzles.
He is survived by his three children: Scott (Shirl), Manchester; Dan (special friend, Davi), Markesan; and the baby, Donelle (Blaine Laumer), Neenah; two granddaughters, Kaylynn and Miranda and two great granddaughters- Haidyn Leah and Ayla Marie. He also leaves behind two sisters, Beverly and his twin, Donna; two sisters-in-law, Angeline Gerstberger and Helen Osimitz; one brother-in-law, Adam Rezutek and special friends, Don and Linda Schummer and is father survived by many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gladys; brother, Jack; ten brothers-in-law, and five sisters-in-law.
We would like to thank Fountain View Care Center for the wonderful care dad received. And a very special thank-you to Hospice Hope of Green Lake and all the hospice coordinators, nurses, chaplains, and volunteers for their time, compassion and support during our father’s journey home. We are sure that God has a special place in Heaven for people who work in the hospice field. May God bless you all.
