Donald Janke

Donald R. Janke, age 65, of Ripon, died Monday, May 3, 1999, at his home.

He was born August 14, 1933, in the Town of Deerfield, a son to Gilbert and Edna (Sandow) Janke. The family moved to Ripon in 1945. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1952, and from 1954-56, served in the US Army. On October 5, 1957, he married Ardys Tavs. Don was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of Ripon, former president of the Men’s Club and Crusader’s Sunday School Class, and was currently a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church Foundation. Don’s favorite scripture reading was Romans 8:3 1.
He served on the Board of Directors of the Ripon Co-op for 22 years and was Secretary for many years. Having farmed for over 40 years, Donald retired one year ago.

He is survived by his wife, Ardys Janke of Ripon; 2 sons, Craig Janke of Ripon and Brian (Luanne) Janke and their children Annalee and Katelan of Dalhart, TX; 1 daughter, Kari (Kenneth) Hielke of Princeton and their children, Curt and Jenni; special cousin, Bob (Audrey) Janke of Baraboo; special friend, Dave (Lucy) Bloch of Ripon; mother-inlaw, Zilda Tavs of Brandon; 2 brothers-in-law, Wayne (Marilyn) Tavs of Brandon and Lynn (Fern) Tavs of WaupUfl sisterS.in-law, Marilyn (Henry) Coehoorn of Rosendale and Marlene (Preston) Koentop of OH; many special cousins, friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents in 1961, and father-in-law, Lawrence Tavs.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, 1999, at 11:00 AM at lmmanuel United Methodist Church, Ripon with the Reverend David Busker officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, May 6, 1999, from 4 until 8 PM at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, and again on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church. lnterment will be in Loper Cemetery, Town of Ripon. Memorials may be given in Donald’s name to the lmmanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon, University of Wisconsin Madison for Cancer research or to Hospice Hope.
