Donald Charles Kersting, 84, of Sandstone Rd, Ripon, Town of Brooklyn, died Thursday evening, March 7, 2002, at his home.
He was born August 8, 1917, in Chicago, IL, the son of Charles L. and Meta (Krueger) Kersting. Don graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1940. In September of 1942, he married Violet Sigmund in Oak Park, IL. He had been Regional Sales Manager at Bendix Abrasives in Chicago for 28 years, retiring to Green Lake in 1980. Don was a member of Good Shephard Lutheran Church in Chicago. In his early years, Don had belonged to the Boy Scouts of America, advancing to the level of Eagle Scout.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Kersting; two sons, Bruce (Ann) Kersting of Princeton, and Gary (Donna) Kersting of Downers Grove, IL; five grandchildren, Christine, Jennifer, Holly, Bret and Nicholas; great-granddaughter, Haily Anna Blazer; sister, Lorraine (Clarence) Reimer; sister-in-law, Wilma Kersting; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Charles.
According to Donalds wishes, cremation will take place and inurnment will be private. There will be no visitation. Memorials to the Boy Scouts of America, St. Agnes Hospice in Fond du Lac, or Tri-Casa of Green Lake.
Don truly enjoyed being with his loving family. He will be deeply missed.
