Donald F. Nimmer, age 85, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017, at Prairie Place in Ripon.
Don was born in Rosendale, WI, on October 26, 1931, the son of Leslie and Dorothy (Scribner) Nimmer. He graduated from Laconia High School in Rosendale, and went on to work as a city, county, and state patrol officer. Don then became a game warden for the DNR for over 30 years until his retirement. On October 28, 1952, he married Audrey Wegner in Rosendale, WI. She passed away in 2011. Don was an Eagle Scout, and served as a Boy Scout leader for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish.
Don is survived by his sons, Doug (Catherine) Nimmer of Arkansaw, WI, Chuck Nimmer of Concord, CA, and Jody (Angela) Nimmer of Mellen, WI; a daughter-in-law, Jill (Steve) Nimmer-Beres of Pine River, WI; grandchildren, Jesse, Bobby Gail, Katrina, Danielle, Nicholas, Nathan, Charles Jr., Calvin, and Tracy; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lois Hollander; and a nephew, Jeff Knapp, both of VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Dorothy; wife, Audrey; and a son, Dennis Nimmer.
A visitation for Don will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI, 54971.
A funeral service for Don will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Messiah Lutheran Church, with Rev. Bryan Fritsch officiating. Interment and full military honors will follow at Rosendale Cemetery in the Village of Rosendale, WI.
