Donald P. Searl, age 69, of 344 Washington St., Ripon, died Thursday evening, November 13, 2003, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
He was born December 8, 1933, in Ripon, a son to Owen and Loretta (Liedke) Searl. Don attended Ripon High School, and in 1954, he married Carla Stenerson in Ripon. He had been a machinist at Speed Queen in Ripon for 41 years, and was a member of United Steel Workers of America Local #1327. Don was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon, and was a member of R.A.C.E. Car Club and Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club. His hobbies included model cars, restoring his 1968 Mustang, and remodeling his house and other jobs. Don loved camping and traveling, but most of all his family.
Survivors include his wife, Carla Searl of Ripon; 3 children, Larry O. (Janet) Searl of Weyauwega, Wanda J. (Terry) Buchholz of Kaukauna and Donald L. (Laurine) Searl, Jr. of Green Lake; 7 grandchildren, Tony Searl, Luke Searl, Rina Searl, Brandon Buchholz, Kaitlynn Searl, Anne Buchholz and Shelby Searl; 2 great-grandchildren, Jaydon and Devan; father, Owen Searl of Ripon; 1 sister, Bonnie Rozek of De Pere; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Wayne.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2003, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul L. Holte officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, and again on Monday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery, Brandon. Memorials will be given to Cancer Research in his name.
