Dora Louise Retzlaff, age 88, of Ripon, died March 20, 1996, at Parkview Care Center, Ripon.
She was born October 6, 1907, in Rush Lake, WI, the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Swick) Stolifuss. She married Otto Retzlaff Jr. on September 21, 1927. Otto preceded her in death on March 1, 1956.
Otto and Dora had farmed in the Rush Lake area until the time of his death. After moving to Ripon, Dora was a housekeeper at Ripon Memorial Hospital, a baker and cook at the Republican House, and then was a cook at the Parkview Nursing Home from July, 1964, until her retirement in October, 1974. Dora enjoyed baking, and shared many of her special treats with her family, relatives and friends. She had resided at Russell Manor since it was constructed in 1970.
Dora was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ. She was a member of the Ladies Guild and Al tar Guild of Our Saviours Church, and for many years served as the contact person to order altar flowers. Dora was a life-long member of Farm Bureau, Royal Neighbors, Friendship Card Club of Ripon, and helped for many years with the Fond du Lac County Volunteer Nutrition Program at Russell Manor.
Survivors include 3 sons, Orville (Janice) Retzlaff of Ripon, Carleton (Pat) Retzlaff of Germantown, WI, and Donald (Caroline) Retzlaff of Ripon; I daughter, Kathryn (David) Lang of Ripon; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Dora was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter LaVerne, a sister, Norma Grahn, and a brother, George Stollfuss.
Friends may call at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon on Friday, March 22, 1996, from 4:00 until 7:30 P.M. Funeral services for Dora will be held on Saturday, March 23, 1996, at 3:00 P.M. at Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Scott Street, Ripon. There will be a one hour visitation before the service. The Rev. Eric Burnard will officiate. Burial will be in the Nepeuskun Cemetery.
A Memorial has been established for Our Saviours Church.
