Dorothea Henrietta Knaak, age 88, a resident at Russell Manor, Ripon, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Parkview Care Center, Ripon.
Dorothea was born May, 2, 1915, in Chicago, IL, a daughter of Hulda Louise (Klatt) and Herman Frederick Swattnick. She graduated from Green Lake High School in 1933. On June 7, 1941, she married Walter Knaak. They resided in Green Lake, Michigan City and for the past 40 years in Ripon. Dorothea was employed as a homemaker, Secretary for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, Michigan City, MI, and Tinkham-Holmes Insurance Agency, Ripon for 15 years. She belonged to Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon and was a member of the Honor Circle serving as past President. She was also a past member of Rebekkahs and the Ripon Garden Club.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Adeline (Andrew) Keller of Omro, WI, nieces and nephews and many friends including John and Joyce Geer and family and David and Kathy Lang. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and friend Bernice Geer.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 8, 2003 from 4:00-6:30 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. Services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2003 with visitation from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon. Rev. Paul L. Holte will officiate. Interment will be at Garden of the Cross Cemetery, City of Ripon. A memorial has been established to Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon.
