Dorothy S. Berg, age 94, of Marshfield, WI formerly of Ripon, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2007 in Marshfield Center Nursing Home.
Dorothy was born on July 3, 1912, in Town of Brooklyn, the daughter of Gustave and Ella (Warnke) Schalow. She graduated from Green Lake High School and Milwaukee Beauty Culture School. On November 25, 1937 she married Eugene Berg in Ripon. She worked as a beautician at the Campus Beauty Shop, located at that time above the Marcus Theatre. Along with Gene, they began the original Berg Electric in 1939. Dorothy was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ and proudly the first person confirmed in the Church in 1926. She was a Bible School teacher and a Cub Scout and Brownie leader.
Survivors include daughter, Kathleen Clegg of Hartford; son, Kenneth Eugene (Susan) Berg of Marshfield; grandchildren, Dawn Clegg of Burbank, CA, Kristal Clegg of Milwaukee, Andrew Clegg of Hartford, Rebecca Hebblewhite of Waunakee and Jeremy and Ryan Berg of Marshfield. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eugene in 1974 and brother, Ivan Schalow.
Visitation for Dorothy Berg will be held on Monday, May 28, 2007 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, and again on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of the service in the Chapel.
Funeral Service for Dorothy Berg will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ Chapel, Ripon with Reverend Gerald Schrankler officiating. Interment will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. Memorials may be given to: American Cancer Society, Midwest Div, 3311 S. Packerland Dr. DePere WI, 54115.
