Dorothy Flanagan, age 89, of Oshkosh, passed away on April 28, 2008, at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh.
Dorothy was born on February 18, 1919, in Oshkosh, the daughter of Thomas and Ruby (Fisher) Jones. She graduated from Oshkosh High School, and then went on to attend both the Oshkosh State Teachers College and Oshkosh Business College. After receiving her degree, Dorothy began work at Tigerton Lumber Company as a secretary. On August 14, 1941, Dorothy married Milton F. Flanagan in Ripon. Continuing in her career, she came to work at the University of Wisconsin in Madison as well as becoming secretary for the Oshkosh School System at Green Meadow School. Dorothy is a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Oshkosh where she formerly sang in the choir. In addition, she was for many years a member of the Cecilian Singers.
Survivors include her son, Brian (Beatrice) Flanagan of WI Rapids; daughter, Erin Werth of Appleton; grandchildren, Nicholas, Kelly and Michael Flanagan all of Milwaukee. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton; son-in-law, Robert; and sister, Arlene Potratz.
Visitation for Dorothy Flanagan will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 218 Blossom St., Ripon.
Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Flanagan will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with Reverend Robert A. Fictum officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Omro Junction Union Cemetery in the Town of Omro. A memorial has been established.
