Dorothy Gehrke

Dorothy L. Gehrke, 78, of Ripon, passed away August 5, 1994, at Ripon Medical Center.
She was born October 17, 1915, in Plymouth, WI and was a 1936 graduate from Ripon College before receiving masters’ degrees from both U.W. at Madison and Milwaukee. On May 25, 1941, she was married to Robert Gehrke. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1989. During many years of Dorothy’s life she served as a teacher in the Winneconne and Ripon school systems. She was also psychologist for the Ripon Public Schools and taught psychology at Ripon College. Dorothy was a past member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, member of the National School Psychologists Association, member of the Retired Teachers Association and a member of Unitarian Fellowship.
Survivors include one son, Robert (Sarah) Gehrke of Ripon; one daughter, Catherine (Gary) Benfield of Medina, OH; two grandchildren, Johnna and Erik Gehrke; three step-granddaughters, Terree, Laura and Cindy Benfield and two cousins, Ruth Coffman of St. Germain and Louis Fischer of Elkhart Lake.
Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 pm Tuesday, August 9, 1994, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Private inurnment will be Wednesday, in Hillside Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6:00 pm until the hour of services at the funeral home.
