Dorothy Kreuter

August 24, 1920 — January 17, 2012

Dorothy Kreuter, age 91, of Markesan, WI passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Markesan Resident Home in Markesan.

Dorothy was born August 24, 1920 in Marinette, WI, the daughter of Carl and Lilah (Mittlesteadt) Schad. She spent her early years in Hartford, WI and married Dr. George Kreuter in Milwaukee on October 30, 1943.

Dorothy was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and won many blue ribbons at local art shows for her watercolor paintings. She passed her love of books and art on to her children and grandchildren. Dorothy was a lifelong sailor and raced prams on Big Green Lake well into her 80’s.

She and George were winter Texans who enjoyed the warm weather, bird watching and walking the beach and Dorothy continued to spend the colder months down south after George died. Dorothy was a strong, determined lady with a great sense of humor that she maintained until the day she died. She will be missed by those who love her.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Howard) Snyder of Seattle, WA and Linda (James) Hyatt of Wautoma, WI; two sons, James Kreuter of Seattle, WA and Paul (Sheryll) Kreuter of Minneapolis, MN; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years and one son, John.

Dorothy’s family has immense gratitude for the staff and friends at the Markesan Resident Home and the care and comfort they provided the last few months.

Per Dorothy’s wishes there will be no service.
