Dorothy E. Liptow, age 97, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Michalenes in Ripon.
Dorothy was born on August 31, 1915, in Green Lake, the daughter of Adam and Bertha (Ahrens) Weiss. She graduated from Green Lake High School. On June 20, 1948, Dorothy married Gordon Liptow on her parents farm in Green Lake. Dorothy had many jobs throughout her life. She worked at Camp Robin Hood, where she cleaned; the Ripon College bookstore; at a local Bakery, where she baked and did clerical duties; and also as a private in-home caregiver. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, cooking, playing Bingo, and especially loved to spend time with her family. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of Ripon, and Green Lake High School Alumni.
Survivors include her daughter, Barb (Dave) Long, Ripon, WI; grandsons, Gordy Long (fiancée Melissa) Ft. Wayne, IN, and Gary Long, Beach Park, IL; brother, Edgar (Evelyn) Weiss, Green Lake, WI; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Norma Goeden and Esther Hoffman.
Visitation for Dorothy Liptow will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2013, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Drive, Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Monday, August 26, 2013, from 10:00-11:00 am at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 West Fond du Lac Street, Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Dorothy Liptow will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013, at 11:00 am at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. Pastor Joshua Pegram will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in the City of Ripon. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401, West Fond du Lac Street, Ripon, WI 54971.
