Dorothy Pelton

November 9, 1914 — January 14, 2002

Dorothy Casey Pelton, 87, formerly of Ripon entered into life eternal at the Vallhaven Care Center in Neenah on January 14, 2002.

Dorothy was born November 9, 1914, in rural Kentucky. She was the third child of 6 to John Taylor and Anna Florence (Roberts) Casey. She attended Science Hill Academy in Shelbyville, KY, graduated from Simpsonville High School, and earned her Registered Nurse degree in the 1920’s from a hospital degree program in Louisville, KY. On December 20, 1941 she married Russell Stewart Pelton II, M.D. of Waupaca. He was a medical student at the University of Louisville and she was a practicing registered nurse. Russell preceded Dorothy into eternal life on October 7, 1999.

As a registered nurse Dorothy did all kinds of nursing in her long career including her husband Russell’s pratice and as a supervisor of nursing in the home in Ripon. She became a registered nurse practitioner towards the end of her career. She was an active member of local and state nursing associations in Wisconsin. For several years she owned and operated a consignment shop in Ripon. In addition to nursing and raising 5 children, Dorothy was devoted to Christ, her Lord and Savior and to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ripon. She was an associate of the Sisters of the Holy Nativity. Dorothy enjoyed travel, gourmet food, music, and reading. She was close for her family in Kentucky and enjoyed frequent visits to KY, and always watched the Kentucky Derby.

Dorothy is survived by her 5 children; Marjorie Anne Lewis of Highland, MD and her husband, Gordon Lewis of Millsboro, DE and their children Jennifer (John T.) Kennedy of Westminister, MD and their son Benjamin and Jennifer’s Children Jamie and Casey by her previous marriage to Robert Derr, Christopher Andrew Pelton Lewis and his wife, Lauren of Eldersburg, MD and Johnathan Edward Caldwell of Columbia, MD;
Ellen Louise and her husband Mark Roemer of Oshkosh and Ellen’s daughter, Amy and her husband Michael Muth, his son Justin and their son Adam James and Ellen’s sons Jeremy Beining of Oshkosh and Paul Beining of Madison;
John Casey Pelton and his wife Janet of Danville, CA and Janet’s son Zachary Rukstela;
Russell Stewart Pelton of Baltimore, MD;
And Elizabeth Hope Albrecht of Columbia, MO and her two daughters Julie Albrecht of Markesan and Elise Albrecht at home.
Dorothy is further survived by her brother, Louis Mayo Casey of Cambellsville, KY.

A Holy Eucharist in thanksgiving to Dorothy’s life and witness will be celebrated on Saturday, January 19, 2002, at 121 a.m. at St Peter’s Episcopal Church, Ripon. The Reverend Kenneth Guy will officate. May she rest in peace and may her memory be eternal.
