Dorothy Sargent

Dorothy Sargent, age 78, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2011, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac with her husband by her side.

She was born August 7, 1933, in Ripon to Julius and Ethel (Scott) Wesner and graduated from Ripon Public Schools. Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, James Sargent on December 27, 1952 and moved to San Rafael, CA, where James was stationed in the U.S. Air Force. While there, she worked at Hamilton Air Force Base, 4th Air Force Headquarters as a secretary for 3 years. After the Air Force they moved to Milwaukee and then returned to Ripon and in 1966, they moved to Sun Prairie. Dorothy was a homemaker and worked in several secretarial and retail positions in Madison. In 1989, they moved to Kohler, WI and after retirement moved to La Crosse near their daughter. Dorothy and James moved back to Ripon in 2007 after their daughter moved to Idaho. She clearly loved her grandchildren, cooking, baking, knitting, her piano and reading. She was a member of the First Congregational UCC Church in Ripon. Dorothy will be sadly missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, James Sargent of Ripon; one daughter, Sandy (Andrew) Kennelly of St. Maries, ID; two grandsons, Conner and Ryan and a granddaughter, Erin all of St. Maries, ID; two brothers, Robert (Mariland) Wesner of Oshkosh, WI and Arlin (Virginia) Wesner of Phoenix, AZ. She was further survived by nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation for Dorothy Sargent will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011, from 11 – 12:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr. Ripon, WI 54971.

Funeral service for Dorothy Sargent will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011, at 12:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Reverend Greg Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Ripon. A memorial is being established.
