Dorothy L.Wood, age 75, of Ripon, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Markesan Resident Home.
She was born September 18, 1923, in Fond du Lac, a daughter to
Edward and Gertrude (Meyer) Wit helms. She graduated from Goodrich
High School in Fond du Lac. On March 9, 1946, she married Milton 0.
Wood in Fond du Lac. For 23 ½ years Dorothy had cooked in the Ripon
School System and when she retired, she was head of the food service.
She was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ and the VFW
Auxiliary. She was charter member and past president of Ripon Lioness
Club, and held other offices in the club, and received the Melvin Jones
Fellow and Birch-Stum Fellowship awards. She was charter member and
past president of Town & Country Garden Club in Ripon.
She is survived by her husband, Milton Wood of Ripon; children, Linda L. Packard, David 0. (Kaye) Wood and Leslie F. (Pat) Wood, all of Ripon; special daughter, Yukiko Yushino of Tokyo, Japan; grandchildren, Wade, Sarah, Chad, Nicole, Anne, Adam and Kim; great-grandchildren, Allyssa, Blake and Kylee; 4 brothers, William (Delores) Wilhelms, Robert (Caroline) Wilhelms, Frank (Joanne) Wilhelms and Lester (Marcia) Wilhelms, all of Fond du Lac; 3 sisters, Rose (Earl) Buchholz of Ripon, Helen Martin of Fond du Lac and Mary Ann (Joe) Woicek of N. Fond du Lac. She is further survived by 3 brothers-in-law, Omar Steinmetz of Fond du Lac, Vernon (Alice) Wood of Ripon and Walter Hagenau of Everett, WA; 2 sisters-in-law, Shirley (Al) Kubeck of Menomonee Falls and Ellen Wilhelms of Fond du Lac; and very special friend, Marion Berger of Ripon. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 infant grandson, Matthew, 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 18, 1999, from 4-7 PM at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, and again on Monday from 10-11 AM prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Monday, April 19, 1999, at 11 AM at Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon with the Reverend James D. Mohr officiating. Interment will be in Loper Cemetery, Town of Ripon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
