Douglas Hare, age 74, of Green Lake passed away unexpectedly at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah.
Doug was born on November 12, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI. He was raised in Green Lake by Fred and Emma Sievert and graduated from Green Lake High School. Doug served his country in the US Marine Corps. Doug worked at Speed Queen in Ripon in a management position for 17 years and in 1955 he joined the Green Lake Police Department in a part time position as a Police Officer. After leaving Speed Queen he worked his way up to Police Chief during his 35 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake and a WIAA Athletic Official, Refereeing High School Basketball.
Survivors include his four children; Susan Durben of Pewaukee, WI and her children, Mitchell and Alex; Doug Hare Jr. of Green Lake, WI; Mike (Rhonda) Hare of Marion, WI, and their children, Julia, Jenna, Josie; Melissa (Jim) Cuny of Suamico, WI, and their children, Sam and Willy, and one nephew, Raymond Piosikowski. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Julie and two sisters, Dorothy Messerschmidt and Lucille Piosikowski.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning, July 11, 2006 from 9-10 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday morning at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake with Father Philip Krogman officiating. Following the service, Military Honors will be conducted at the church.
A memorial has been established in his name.
