Duwayne "Duey" Ferch

DuWayne “Duey” C. Ferch, age 75, of Montello, died September 9, 2001, at his home.

He was born August 25, 1926, in Springvale Township, the son of Charles and Hattie (Gransee) Ferch. He was educated at Town Line Grade School and graduated in May of 1944 from Rosendale Union Free High School. He then served in the U.S. Navy from June 10, 1944 until December 17, 1945. On September 13, 1947 he married Marion Strehlow at Immanuel Trinity Church in Fond du Lac. They resided on his home farm until 1969 when the State of Wisconsin needed the property to re-do Hwy 23. The family then lived at Lake Puckaway in Montello for 11 years, Batavia for 12 years, and then moved back to Lake Puckaway in 1991 when he retired. He had been employed for 40 years in the printing business. He worked for Charles & Fred Inversetti, Nick Smokie’s Printing, McMillan Printing, all of Ripon, and Sun Graphics in Plymouth. He was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Marion; 3 sons, John Ferch, Charles (JoAnn) Ferch, and David Ferch, all of Montello; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Canton.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon with Rev. Jonathan Stansfield officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. lnurnment with military rites will follow at Rosendale Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
