Earl A.Hammen, 74, of the Town of Ripon, died at his home on February 11, 1998.
Earl was born on January 11, 1924 in Ripon, the son of the late Arnold and Lillian (Zimmerman) Hammen. He graduated from Ripon High School and attended Ripon College prior to serving in the Army during WWII. After his discharge in 1945, he married the former Gladys Liefke. Earl farmed most of his life. He was a member of Farm Bureau, and a member of the Hereford Association for 6 years and the Holstein Association for 50 years. He was a F.F.A. Alumni member, 4-H leader/member, member of the Disabled Veterans of Fond du Lac Co., and of the V.F.W. Post #5278 in Ripon. He also was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon, and was President of the Loper Cemetery Association. In his early years, he belonged to Boy Scouts.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys; 2 daughters, Ann Dee (Bryan) Peth and Nyla (Tom) Keuler; 2 sons, Jim Hammen and Tom Hammen; grandchildren, Kerrie Peth and her fiance Todd, Kelly (Shannon) Peth and Kristi Peth, Clint Keuler and Matt Keuler, Jacquei Hammen, Lydia Hammen, Sarah Hammen; great-grandchildren, Hunter Stenholt and Brett Peth; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by I sister.
Funeral service will be Friday, February 13, 1998, at 11 AM at Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon with the Rev. James D. Mohr officiating. Interment will be in Loper Cemetery, Town of Ripon. Visitation will be Thursday,February 12, 1998, from 5 until 9 PM at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home,
Ripon, and again on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church.
