Earle Arthur Gibson, age 88, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 1986, at his home.
He was born September 1, 1898, in the Town of Rush Lake, WI, the son of Arthur and Amelia (Wiegert) Gibson. He graduated from Ripon High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Earle was a bacteriologist and worked for The Upjohn Company in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was married to Hazel Potratz of Oshkosh who preceded him in death. On June 15, 1940, Earle married Margaret Opland of South Haven, Michigan. In WWII, he served in the US Army Sanitary Corp (Medical) in Iceland and England for three and a half years. Earle held rank of Major USA (Ret). He has lived in Ripon the past 23 years. Earle was a life member of Retired Officers Association, Ripon Historical Society, Friends of the Library, Ripon-Green Lake Lodge #95, F&A.M., Ripon-Green Lake Chapter No. 151, O.E.S.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel; brother, Harley L. Gibson of Madison and a nephew and niece.
A Masonic and Eastern Star service will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 1986, at 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Interment will be held at Nepeuskun Cemetery in the Town of Nepeuskun. Memorials has been established.
