Edmund Wright

Edmund O. “Ed” Wright, age 94, formerly of Rosendale WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2013, in Oshkosh, WI, with family by his side.

Ed was born October 4, 1918, the son of Harry and Emma (Otteson) Wright. Upon graduating from Stoughton High School in 1937, Ed went on to serve our country as a Sargent in the United States Army Air Corp from 1942-1946. On October 3, 1946, Ed married June Joitel at the Central Lutheran Church, in Stoughton WI. He attended college at Milton College, Milton, WI in 1949, where he received his Bachelors of Science Degree; the University of Colorado, CO in 1949; and University of Wisconsin- Madison, WI from 1952-1953. Ed worked as a teacher at Wisconsin Dells High School from 1949- 1952; he was a salesman for Central Soya Company from 1952-1980, and he was a Parts Associates Salesman from 1980- 1995. Ed served as the Sexton of the Rosendale Cemetery from 1980-2007. He was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church, served as a Peace Lutheran Church Council member; member of the Rosendale V.F.W.; Lion’s Club of Rosendale; Rosendale Village Council member; American Legion Post #75, and he was also a member of Who’s Who in American Colleges. Ed was an amazing and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, June Wright, Oshkosh, WI; sons, Thomas (Joan) Wright of Parma, OH, David (Carol) Wright, Fond du Lac, WI, Greg (Mary Ellen) Wright of Delevan, WI, Steve (Beth) Wright, Oshkosh, WI, Kevin (Laurel) Wright, Savage, MN; daughters, Sonja (John) Macho, Oshkosh, WI; Janel (Paul) Rumbuc, Oshkosh, WI; Julie (Brett) Poquette, Oshkosh, WI; brother, Kelly Wright, Stoughton, WI; sisters, Elaine Rice, and Dorothy Olson, both of Stoughton, WI, and Lois (Wes) Larson, Rockford, IL; twenty grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Emma Wright; his brother, Harry Wright; daughter in law, Barbara Wright; and granddaughter, Lisa Weaver.

Visitation for Edmund “Ed” Wright will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013, from 9-11:00 am, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rosendale, 124 S. Main Street, Rosendale, WI 54974.

Funeral Service for Edmund “Ed” Wright will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 11:00 am, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rosendale, 124 S. Main Street, Rosendale, WI. Reverend Charles R. Thompson will officiate. Interment will follow the luncheon, with full Military Honors at Rosendale Cemetery in the village of Rosendale. A memorial is being established.
