Edward Beuthin

August 23, 1922 — August 29, 2005

Edward H. Beuthin, 83, 548 Eureka St., Ripon, passed away Monday morning, August 29, 2005 at Ripon Medical Center in Ripon after a year's battle with lung cancer.

He was born August 23, 1922 in Ripon, the son of Edward P. and Ella (Miller) Beuthin. He graduated from Ripon High School. Ed was a T SGT, Master Gunner in the 554th AAA AW BN Headquarters & B Battery in the U.S. Army. He served from January 1943 to October 1945 in the European Theater of Operation including Northern France, Normandy, Rhineland and Central Europe. On January 31, 1948 he married Margaret B. Jaworski in Ripon and they have been married for 57 years. He retired as a Service Department Supervisor for Wisconsin Power and Light (Alliant Energy) where he worked for 36 years. Ed was a Charter Member of VFW Post #5278 in Ripon and attended reunions of the 554th. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Ripon Rifle & Pistol Club, member of AARP, Tuscumbia Country Club, Mascoutin Country Club, Ripon Senior Center, Ripon Senior Bowling League, Friends of the Library, Ripon Historical Society, and a past member of the Oshkosh Fine Arts Association. He was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. Ed enjoyed golfing and watching the Green Bay Packers. He was a watercolor artist, enjoyed building model airplanes, traveling, and he loved spending time with his grandson Adam and his family. Ed enjoyed life and always had a joke to tell.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret “Marge” of Ripon; 2 sons, Tom (Bobbie) Beuthin of Hawthorne, CA and Jack (Lisa) Beuthin of Johnstown, PA; 1 daughter, Nancy (Dan) Chase of Ripon; 1 grandson, Adam Chase; a step-granddaughter, Danielle Chase of Ripon; and 1 step-grandson, John Franklin of CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gladys Harder.

Funeral service for Edward H. Beuthin will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2005, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home. The Reverend Mark R. West will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home, and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. Memorial has been established.
