Edward Joseph Duarte, age 87, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2011, at his home with his family by his side.
Edward was born on May 15, 1924, in Oakley, CA, the son of Manuel and Margaret (Perera) Duarte. He graduated from Liberty Union High School in California and served our country in the United States Army. In 1947, Edward married Mary Magdalen Enos in Manteca, CA. He enjoyed gardening and was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake. Work was a big part of Edwards life. He had a chicken ranch and was an orchard farmer in California, raising almonds, apricots and grapes. Edward also worked at the American Baptist Association in Green Lake as a chief, gardener and security guard.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Green Lake, WI; two daughters, Joan (Roger) Stulce of McKinney, TX and Ruth (Gilbert) Natera of Winton, CA; two sons, Tom Duarte of Green Lake, WI and Edward (Stacy) Duarte of Brandon, WI; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son; granddaughter, Jennifer Wedde; and one brother, Joseph.
Graveside service for Edward Duarte will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at 10:00 am at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake. Father Philip Krogman will officiate. A memorial is being established.
