Edward Munsey

December 27, 1916 — May 4, 1996

Edward H. Munsey, age 79, of Green Lake, WI, died Saturday morning on May 4, 1996 at Parkview Care Center in Ripon. He had fought a courageous battle with cancer.

Ed was born December 27, 1916, in Milwaukee, the son of the late Harry and Lulu Barer Munsey. After serving his country in the Army in World War II, Ed ran “Ed’s Friendly Service” station in Green Lake for 23 years. Following his service work he labored as grounds foreman at Lawsonia and as maintenance manager at Green Lake High School until his ultimate retirement in 1981. Ed was a charter member of the Green Lake Federated Church, member of Green Lake Willis-Chapel Legion Post #306, member of Green Lake Lions Club and a past Rotary member.

Survivors include his wife, the former Myrtle Lyons, whom he married on October 27, 1945, one son, Bill (Kathy) Munsey of Green Lake; five grandchildren, Amanda and Nathan Munsey, David and Kenneth Longsine and Brian Miller; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Barb (John) Vickerman of FL and three brothers, Ron Munsey of Ripon, Clifford (Marge) Munsey and Thomas Munsey both of FL. He was preceded in death by one sister and a daughter, Frances.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon and on Wednesday, May 8, from 10 am until the hour of services at the Federated Church in Green Lake.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 am at the church with Reverend James M. Logan officiating. Interment will follow in Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake. There will be a Legion Service at 8 pm Tuesday May 7 at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in Edward Munsey’s name.
