Edward Roth

Edward V. Roth, 79, of N6104 Lawson Drive, Green Lake, died Thursday morning, January 29, 2004, at Green Lake Gardens in Green Lake.

He was born on June 15, 1924, in Park Ridge, IL to Harvey D. and Agnes (Sandberg) Roth. Ed graduated from Fairbault High School in MN, and served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy as a medic. He married Mary Ellen Kopplin on August 30, 1948. He worked as an auditor for the State of Wisconsin, and he and Mary owned and operated Oakwood Lodge in Green Lake. Ed was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake, served as an Alderman for the City of Green Lake, and was a member of the Green Lake Willis-Chapel Legion Post #306.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen of Green Lake; two sons, Edward (Deborah) Roth of Minneapolis MN, and Greg (Patty) Roth of Green Lake; one daughter, Jennifer (Gary) Simon of DeForest; nine grandchildren, Aaron (Nikki) Roth, Carl Roth, Rachel (Pepe-Jon) Chavez, Michael Roth, Emily Roth, Melissa (Jason) Sonntag, Lesley Roth, Olivia Simon, and William Simon; one great-grandchild, Grace Sonntag; one brother, Robert (Janet) Roth of Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law, Teeter Allen of Green Lake; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harvey (Shirley) Roth.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2004, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Philip Krogman officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Internment will be in Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

Ed courageously battled Parkinson’s disease for many years. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
