Edwin G. Hammen, age 95, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 1993, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon.
He was born September 9, 1897, in Beechwood, WI, the son of Peter and Madgalena (Rosenthal) Hammen. He married Adela Gruetzmacher on August 20, 1924 and she preceded him in death on February 20, 1983. Mr. Hammen served in the U.S. Army during WWI. He attended Ripon College and was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Ed owned grocery stores in Freemont and Neenah. He was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon and member of the Hawley-Dieckhoff Post #33 for 70 years.
He is survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, six brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services for Mr. Hammen will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Our Saviours United Church of Christ. The Reverend James D. Mohr will officiate. Inurnment will be in Loper Cemetery, Town of Ripon. Visitation is Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Services at the church.
