Eleanore Machkovich, age 98, of Ripon, WI passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Prairie Place in Ripon.
Eleanore was born on June 22, 1920 in Galena IL, the daughter of Herman & Anna Smith. She graduated from Galena High School in 1938. She grew up on her family farm. After high school, she went to Rockford, IL to work during the war, where she met Charles Machkovich. They were married in 1942 in Rockford. They then moved to Wisconsin and bought his parents farm near Manchester. Later they bought a farm near Ripon, where they farmed many years until retirement. In retirement, they loved to winter in Florida with family.
Eleanore was a long time member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was a homemaker, gardener and loved flowers. She volunteered at Ripon Senior Center in the kitchen. Eleanore was a very generous soul always giving away baked goods or extra vegetables from the garden. She was also a huge Green Bay Packers fan, she never missed watching a game.
She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Paul and Steven (Jenny); daughters, Joyce and Doris (Matt); ten grandchildren, Dawn (Peter), Mike (Tiffany), Stephen (Kelly), Kathy (Geof), Heather (Chris), Joe (Cristy), Nathan (Lindsay), Natalie (Naohide), Noah and Curtis; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many family and friends. Eleanore was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; daughter, Barbara; grandsons, Christopher and Thomas James (TJ); son-in-law, Jerome; daughter-in-law, Sue; sisters; brothers; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews; friends; and neighbors.
A visitation for Eleanore will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 10:00 am- 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 Blossom Street, Ripon, WI 54971.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Eleanore will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, with Reverend Robert A. Fictum officiating. Interment will take place at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon, WI. A memorial is being established in her name.
