Elery Marquart

Elery Ervin Marquart, age 103, of Markesan, died September 14, 2009, at his home in Markesan.

Elery was born on January 9, 1906, in Green Lake County, WI, the son of John and Martha (Roehl) Marquart. He married Edith Lenz, at the home of her parents on September 24, 1932. He was a member of the Markesan United Methodist Church. Elery hauled ice in his younger days and farmed on the family farm, near Marquette until he retired. He enjoyed farming and playing Rook.

Survivors include one daughter, Verlys Marquardt of Markesan, WI; one son, Jon (Ann) Marquardt of Eldorado, WI; sister-in-law, Gladys Kluckman of Markesan, WI, and many nieces and nephews. Elery was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister, Jessie and brother-in-law, Fritz Sommers.

Visitation for Elery Marquart will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009, from 10 – 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Markesan, 74 Catherine St. Markesan, WI 53946.

Funeral Service for Elery Marquart will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Markesan. Reverend Paul A. Yoder will officiate. Interment will follow at Salemville Cemetery in the Town of Manchester. Memorials may be given to United Methodist Church of Markesan, 74 Catherine St. Markesan, WI 53946 or Markesan Historical Society, P.O. Box 242 Markesan, WI 53946.
