Elmer Lester Hilke, 85, of W270 Cty Rd F, Ripon, passed away at his home on Monday morning, April 12, 2004.
He was born June 26, 1918, at home in rural Ripon, a son to Adolph and Louise (Kobernick) Hilke, and attended country school. On May 1, 1946, he married Harriet Ruth Kimble at Peace Lutheran Church in Green Lake. Elmer farmed on his own farm for over fifty years, and also worked part-time for Ed Priebe Sales & Service for 15 years. He was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of Ripon.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 57 years, Harriet; children, Richard (Kathleen) Hilke of Ripon, Susan (Mark) Thompson of Ripon, Dale (Holly) Hilke of Berlin, and daughter-in-law, Paula Varner of Walworth; and 14 grandchildren, Brenda (John) Hollatz, Denise (Rodney) Calo, Teri Hilke, Jason Hilke, Amy (Eric) Kivela, Deana Hilke, Collin (Natasha) Hilke, Peggy (Erik) Coehoorn, Monica Hilke, Justin Hilke, Courtney Hilke, Sara Hilke, Caleb Hilke, and Conrad Hilke. He is further survived by 2 stepchildren, Carrie (Jerry) Dix and Connie Thompson; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Dora Brogle of WI and Esther Pelletier of FL; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Gerald Hilke; brother, Henry “Hank” Hilke; and sister, Edna Hilke.
Funeral service for Elmer Lester Hilke will at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004, at Immanuel United Methodist Church with Rev. David A. Busker officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 14 from 4-7 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, and again on Thursday at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake. A memorial has been established in his name.
