Elmer Liefke

Elmer A. Liefke, age 94, died Saturday, October 20, 2001, at Markesan Resident Home in Markesan.

Elmer was born July 11, 1907, in the Town of Green Lake, a son to Gustaf Frank and Louise (Schwandt) Liefke. He attended Mackford School. He married Mildred Sophia Bauman on October 1, 1928, in Waukegan, IL. They farmed in the Ripon area for many years. He also was owner of Car-Mel Court on the south shore of Green Lake. Elmer was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Ripon. He very much enjoyed his many years of farming and gardening.

Survivors include one daughter, Carol Hervey of Green Lake; one son, Melvin Liefke and special friend, Donna of Ripon; five grandchildren, Marie (John) Innocenti of St. Louis Park, MN, Sherry (Dave) Lukoski of Ripon, Gary (Linda) Liefke of Ripon, Linda (Jim) Uecker of Omro, and Elizabeth Liefke of Fond du Lac. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred in 1999 and his parents.

Services will be held Monday, October 22, 2001, at 3:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Interment will be at Green Lake Center. Memorials may be directed to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church/Shut-in Ministry.
