Elroy Briese

Elroy E. Briese, age 69, of Ripon, died unexpectedly at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton on Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999.
He was born in Waukesha on Jan. 16, 1930, the son of Walter and Alvina (Harke) Briese. He served in the National Guard from Jan. 26, 1954, to Jan. 25, 1956. He worked at Ripon College in the Maintenance Department from 1956 to 1992. He served many years on an Usher’s Team in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the property committee until his death. He and Aleen Briese were married March 31, 1967.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Phyllis Peterson, two grandchildren, Wade & Becky Peterson, two sisters, Delores Van Doren & Elaine Zepp, three sistersin-law, Etta Mae Tyler, Almita Stallard & Betty Messerschmidt, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Elroy Briese will be held Wednesday, September 29, 1999, at 11:00 AM at Grace Evangelical Lutheran church with Rev. Paul Holte officiating, assisted by Rev. Jonathan Stansfield. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 28, 1999, from 5-8 PM at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM September 29, 1999 at Grace Church until the service. Memorials to the church.
A private family service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery at 9:00 AM on Sept. 30.
