Elsie M. Clark, age 95, of Ripon, WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2011, with family by her side.
She was born on November 27, 1916, on the family farm in Deerfield Township, Waushara County. Elsie was the oldest child of Herman and Ida (Roeske) Klabunde. She attended school in Waushara County and completed eighth grade. Elsie learned at an early age the values of hard work and working together. Life on the farm was not easy. As a young woman, she worked in Madison as a housekeeper for a university professor where Rollin Clark of Hancock courted her.
Rollin and Elsie were married in Detroit, Michigan on February 7, 1937. They farmed around the Ripon and Markesan areas. Elsie retired from Admanco after 18 years. Elsie and Rollin were married 54 years until his passing in 1991. They had three children, Marjorie (Bob) Geiszler of San Andreas, CA, Gordon (deceased) and Jerry (Darlene) Clark of Markesan. She is survived by four grandchildren, Katherine (Mark) Campbell of San Andreas, CA, Jeff Clark of Randolph, Bryan (deceased), Jon (Stacy) Clark of Markesan and Brad (Erin) Clark of Oshkosh. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Bob) Dehling of Coloma; brothers, Edward (Arlene) Klabunde of Manitowoc and Donald (Carol) Klabunde of Hancock; special friend, Nancy Floyd and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Rollin; son, Gordon; grandson, Bryan and brother, Ervin. She will be missed by her large family and many friends.
Elsie, a very loving mother, was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church and a woman of strong faith. She loved music, reading biographies, feeding and watching her backyard birds and gardening. She was an excellent cook and hostess and loved any time spent by a lake or ocean. Elsie was an ardent and faithful fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers and up until recently she knew their players and their positions by name.
Visitation for Elsie Clark will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011, from 12:30 – 2:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 430 W. Griswold St. Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Elsie Clark will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 2:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon. Reverend Clay R. Salmela will officiate. Interment will follow at Garden of the Cross Cemetery in Ripon. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 430 W. Griswold St. Ripon, WI 54971 or Agnesian Hospice of Hope, 745 South St. Green Lake, WI 54941.
