Elsie “Ellie” Jane Drevs, age 83, of DePere, WI, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Barrett House in Ripon.
Ellie was born on the family farm near Coleman, WI on May 28, 1938, the daughter of Leo and Dorothy (Schjoth) Murach. She graduated from Peshtigo High School as the class of 1956 salutatorian. On October 20, 1956, she married Russell Drevs and lived most of their married life in DePere, WI. Russell passed away in 2019.
Ellie worked as a legal secretary for Voelz Law Firm in Green Bay for many years. She loved helping people, even having several relatives and friends live with them for a while. Upon entering the nursing home, when they gave her “helpful” jobs to do, she accepted being there. By far, her greatest pleasure in life was her grandchildren. Ellie was actively involved in all of their lives.
Ellie is survived by her children, Mary Garrett, Cheryl Hill, Scott (Linda) Drevs, and Tony Drevs; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Lewis (Pat) Murach; two sisters, Frances Osier, Marlene (Ron) Thoney; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; her parents, Leo and Dorothy Murach; a granddaughter, Ariel Drevs; two brothers, Philip and Wayne Murach; and five sisters, Winnie, Helen, Edna, Emily, and Doris.
A private family celebration of life will be held and any memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in her memory.
