Elsie Louise Scharschmidt, age 96, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 1991, at Parkview Care Center, Ripon.
She was born January 31, 1895, to Ferdinand and Mary (Wolfgram) Grams in Markesan where she was raised. After her marriage on April 7, 1920 to Felix Alexander Scharschmidt they moved to Oakfield and in 1939, they returned to the Markesan and Ripon area. She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of Ripon, a member of Heart of Dairyland Homemakers in Green Lake County, and was on the Green Lake Farm Bureau Council.
Survivors include three daughters, Felicia (Willard) Marquart of Ripon, Frances Kaul of Markesan, and Betty (Gordon) Warnke of Ripon; four sons, Felix (Dolores) Scharschmidt, Jr., of Markesan, Richard Scharschmidt of Ripon and Lois Keel Scharschmidt of Markesan, Rudolph (Virginia) Scharschmidt of Modesto, CA, and John (Judith) Scharschmidt of Markesan; one son-in-law, William Wepner of Wausaukee; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 15, 1963, one daughter Marie Wepner, one son-in-law Hazen Kaul, four brothers, and five sisters.
Friends may call Monday, November 25, 1991 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon and on Tuesday, November 26, 1991 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services at the church.
Funeral Services for Elsie Scharschmidt will be held Tuesday, November 26, 1991, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Ripon with the Reverend C.S. Hollerup officiating. Interment will be in the Markesan Memorial Cemetery in Markesan. A memorial has been established in her name.
