Emma Louise Heiple, age 88, of Green Lake, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at Friendship Manor, Green Lake. She was born May 31, 1909, in Humbird, WI, a daughter to Matthias and Bertha (Bram) Baumgartner. She married Robert William Heiple on December 28, 1933.
She graduated from Humbird High School, and attended Ripon College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was a teacher for over 35 years, and taught at Mayville High School and Green Lake High School. Emma lived in Green Lake most of her life. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #151, Past Matrons, Royal Neighbors, Business & Professional Women’s Club, and Charter Member of the Federated Church of Green Lake. She was also an Outstanding Secondary Educator of America, and belonged to the Green Lake Writer’s Club, Green Lake Historical Society, Green Lake Retired Teacher’s Association, and co-author with her husband, Robert Heiple of “A Heritage History of Beautiful Green Lake, Wisconsin.”
She is survived by son, Bruce (Irma) Heiple of Grass Valley, CA and daughter, Brenda (Donald) Holmer of Westminster, CO; 3 grandchildren, Tanya Heiple of Portsmouth, England, Timothy Heiple of Salt Lake City, UT and LaNette Wimer of Thorton, CO; 2 great-grandsons, Dillon and Nicholas Wimer of Thorton, CO; 2 sisters, Lena Michael and her husband John of Encinitas, CA and Bertha Weidler and her husband Victor of Tripoli, IA; and 11 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 4, 1997, her parents, brother, Jack Baumgartner and sister-in-law, Hattie Baumgartner, sisters, Ann Sherman and Marie Weidler and brother-in-law, Adolph Weidler.
Joint funeral service with her husband, Robert Heiple will be Thursday, July 10, 1997, at 11 AM at the Federated Church of Green Lake with Pastor Karen Gygax Rodriguez officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 AM until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. Memorials to the Green Lake Federated Church, Eastern Star and Business & Professional Women’s Club.
