Eugene Bitters

January 5, 1922 — June 6, 1989

Eugene A. Bitters, 67, of 334 E. Water St, Ripon, died Tuesday, June 6, 1989 at Juliette Manor Nursing Home, Berlin.

He was born January 5, 1922 in Oconto, to Arthur and L. Charlotte Fondrie Bitters. On January 30, 1949 he married Constance Denison in Marysville, MI.

Mr. Bitters received his BBA and LLB degrees from the University of Wisconsin. He was an attorney and had lived in Ripon since 1952. He was a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Board of Russell Manor from the time of its inception until 1988.

Mr. Bitters served in the Army Air Force during WWII. He had entered into the National Guard and ended service in 1946 with the 318th Fighter Group, 8th Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Constance W. Bitters of Ripon; one son, David of Fond du Lac; three daughters, Barbara Bitters of Madison, Deborah Coles of Ripon and Constance (Cubby) Retzlaff of Ripon; his mother, L. Charlotte Bitters of Milwaukee, one sister, Mrs. Arthur (Audrey) Foeste of Billings, MT; two nieces and two nephews. His father preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 pm where a VFW Service will be held at 8:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with the Reverend James D. Mohr officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Ripon.

A memorial has been established.
