Eugene Stindt, age 80, of Markesan, formerly of Fairwater, passed away on April 7, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh.
Eugene was born in Fond du Lac on November 29, 1928, the son of Irwin and Mabel (McCourt) Stindt. He graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac and Fond du Lac Business College. Gene served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1953 he married Lois Wustrack in Rogersville, and he worked as an accountant for the Fairwater Canning Factory. Gene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater, the Ripon-Green Lake-Markesan Masonic Lodge F&AM #95, Fairwater Fire Department, Charter member of the Fairwater Lions Club, and was a member of the School Board for 17 years in Markesan.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Stindt of Markesan; his children, Dan (Karen) Stindt, their children, Christopher (Anna), Matthew, and Melissa; Dean (Barbara) Stindt, their children, Nate (Nicole), Brooke, and Lindsey; Jeff (Allison) Stindt, their children, Olivia and Isabella; Janet (Dave Gallops) Vossekuil, her children Michael and Ellen; Kathy (Keith) Schwandt, their children, Tracy and Eric; Patti Thorson, and her children, Rachel, Ashley, and Nicole; and two great-grandchildren, Jaden and Ava. Gene was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Eugene Stindt will be held on Friday, April 10, 2009, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon.
Funeral service for Eugene Stindt will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater, with the Reverend Scott G. Ehle officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Fairwater Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established.
